Privacy Policy

Important: Ask & Help is built around public requests. Information you submit in a request may be visible to anyone on the internet after moderation. Do not submit information you do not want to make public.

1. Who we are

Ask & Help is a platform that allows people to publish requests for help and allows other people to discover those requests and contact them directly. Ask & Help does not require public users to create an account.

2. Information we collect

When you submit a request, we may collect the information you choose to provide, including your first and last name, country, city, category, request title, description, contact information, payment or delivery details, and any photos or supporting documents you upload.

Our hosting, database and security providers may also process basic technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, request timestamps and security logs when needed to operate and protect the service.

3. Public information

Approved requests are intended to be public. Your request may therefore expose your name, location, contact details, description, payment or delivery information, photos and other information you voluntarily submit. You are responsible for deciding what information to publish.

Never upload passwords, authentication codes, full payment-card numbers, identity-document numbers, unredacted IDs, private medical records, or other information that is not necessary for your request. Where a document is useful as evidence, redact sensitive information before uploading it.

4. How we use information

We use submitted information to review requests, publish approved requests, display them in the public feed, enable people to understand how they can help, prevent abuse and fraud, maintain security, and operate the platform.

5. Legal basis and data-protection principles

Where applicable data-protection law such as the GDPR applies, we aim to process personal information lawfully, fairly and transparently, collect only information relevant to the service, and keep it only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.

6. Service providers

Ask & Help may use third-party infrastructure providers, including hosting, database, storage, security and analytics providers. These providers may process information on our behalf to deliver their services. The current site uses Supabase for backend database/storage functionality and may use a hosting provider such as Netlify.

7. How long information is kept

Published request information may remain available while the request is active or until it is removed. Rejected, removed or moderation-related information may be retained for a reasonable period where necessary for security, abuse prevention, dispute handling or legal compliance, and then deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed.

8. Managing and deleting your request

When you submit a request, you receive a unique private management link. This link allows you to manage and permanently delete your request without creating an account. You are responsible for keeping this link private and secure. If you delete your request, it will no longer be publicly available on Ask & Help. If you lose access to your private management link or require assistance regarding your personal data, you may contact us at contact@askandhelp.com.

9. Third-party payments and contact

Ask & Help does not process payments between people who request help and people who provide help. If you follow a payment link, contact a user, make a bank transfer or use another third-party service, that activity is governed by the privacy terms of the relevant third party.

10. Children

The platform is not intended for children to submit personal information independently. A parent or legal guardian should submit a request involving a child and should avoid publishing unnecessary information that identifies the child.

11. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the service, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security. Because approved requests are public by design, the safest approach is not to publish sensitive information in the first place.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. The date at the top of this page shows the latest revision.
